bring your own bike PACKING LIST

You have opted to take your own motorcycle.

Entry into this program means your motorcycle must pass an unforgiving technical inspection upon arrival and be entered into our daily inspection and maintenance program. Please see details below.

Personal Fitness

You will be on your dirt bike between 6-8 hours a day, many days in a row. Is your body ready for this? Is your motorcycle? It is best to start preparing so you can make the most of your time riding.

Use this trip as motivation to get fit!

Bike Check

We would love for you to be riding your own motorcycle BUT

  • An improperly maintained motorcycle creates unnecessary risk for you while riding.

  • An improperly maintained motorcycle increases the risk that your machine may break down on the trail, compromising your experience and the experience of the group.

  • An improperly maintained motorcycle creates frustration in the mechanical workshop. Our team of mechanics are on tight timelines while resetting the bike fleet, there will be little tolerance for an improperly maintained motorcycle.

For these reasons, entry into this program means your motorcycle must pass an unforgiving technical inspection upon arrival. See inspection parameters below.

If your motorcycle does not pass the inspection, your options are:

  1. Have our mechanics fix it at shop rate (if time and parts availability allows).

  2. Rent a Traction eRag motorcycle.

  3. Not participate in the ride.

Mandatory Maintenance Program

Your motorcycle will be enrolled in our mandatory maintenance program.

This program includes a daily wash, fueling up (you supply 60L of fuel), and a mechanical checklist. Any mechanical issues (including oil changes) that may be present (or on the horizon) will be identified and communicated to you by text. You may (or may not) choose to address these issues with our mechanic at his shop rate. Nothing will be worked on/changed without your consent. The better your bike is maintained on the way in, the more carefree your ride will be.

If your bike requires specific things for maintenance, please provide that information. Examples could be no-toil oil filters, you only run race gas, Evans coolant vs. traditional coolant.

Spares

  • Oil, Oil Filters, 2-Stroke Oil

  • Are you set for a flat on the trail?

  • Do you have necessary parts for an oil change?

  • Extra Air filter, filter skins (highly recommended)

  • Air filter cleaner & oil, ziplock bag, rubber gloves?

  • Sparkplug

  • Heavy Duty Tubes

  • Fr/Rear Brake pads

  • Spare Shift lever, Brake/clutch lever

Your Tool Kit

Be self-sufficient! We will often be in remote areas with no support. You should have the tools to repair a flat tire and de-water your bike. De-watering means accessing/replacing your spark plug and the float bowl drain plug of your carb (if carbureted).

  • Bike specific tools (plus axle wrench for front and rear)

  • Tire repair tools (levers, valve core remover)

  • Tube repair kit and/or 21” front tube

  • Small air pump or CO2 bottles

  • Master link

  • Safety wire, zip ties, duct tape

  • JB Weld/Quicksteel

  • Small headlamp

  • Oil for 2-stroke bike
