So, you are going to be an intern…

Prepare for an unforgettable, life changing experience. It will be difficult.

SAFETY

Safety is our number one concern.

Although riding everyday may not be in the cards, you will be around dirtbikes constantly and riding regularly. Every trip is different, every eRag staff team is different.

You will be riding in potentially difficult and unpredictable terrain. Having the correct attitude and the proper safety gear will mitigate risk. You must, at all times when on your motorcycle, be wearing proper and complete safety gear - ALWAYS A HELMET when the motorcycle is running.

It is your responsibility to make sure your gear is in good condition and is the proper fit. It is unwise to take untested gear on a trip of this magnitude. Ride with your gear several times before coming on the trip to ensure it fits correctly and is comfortable. There are few things worse than ill fitting or uncomfortable gear.

PERSONAL ITEMS (RIDING)

  • Base layers 3 pairs (create a hand-wash/hang-dry rotation)

  • MX socks 3 pairs (create a hand-wash/hang-dry rotation)

  • Packable enduro shell jacket (expect rain, expect cold, your jacket should come with you on sketchy days)

  • Wearable garbage bag (this is your emergency rain gear should things get hairy)

  • Medium to large sized hydration bladder/backpack (enough room for your shell jacket & lunch/snacks)

  • Small personal first aid kit

  • Toilet paper/wet wipes (for backpack)

  • Money, both Canadian currency and plastic. You won’t need much.

  • Sunscreen/Bug Spray (this will save your sanity)

  • Camera/Phone

  • Hearing protection/ear plugs (for snoring & bike noise)

  • the below video has nothing to do with packing but we think Fady the Dog is hilarious so enjoy…

SAFETY GEAR

It is imperative that you ride with this gear before coming on the trip. It is your responsibility to make sure it is in good working order during every day of the trip. If you have gear failure, please let us know as we can assist in you getting replacement gear.

  • Motocross boots

  • Properly fitting knee braces or knee guards

  • MX/Enduro riding pants and jersey(s)

  • Gloves (2 pair, expect rain)

  • MX helmet with visor

  • MX Goggles (with spare lens)

  • MX/Enduro style upper body armour - this is personal preference. It could be a under-jersey pressure suit, above-jersey hard armor or any combination of the two.

PERSONAL GEAR

Quick dry, ripstop and technical fabrics work best. You will destroy almost all your clothing. We live and work in a harsh environment daily.

Keep in mind that we frequent thrift stores. You can cheaply get anything extra you may need or, only the minimum and stock up on cheap disposable thrift store gear when you arrive.

You don’t need much to survive here:

  • Sleeping Bag & Towel

  • Two pairs of pants

  • A good, tough, warm hoodie

  • lots of base layers - undies, riding leggings, tops

  • T-shirts galore (tech fabrics work best, long and short sleeve)

  • Comfortable rain shell w/liner. Rain sometimes = cold & windy)

  • Rugged vests work well here.

  • Toiletries

  • Should you need medication, bring enough for the entire trip

  • Work gloves

  • Kick ass boots. We mostly wear gore tex hiking boots as they can do anything and everything.

  • Hats - warm ones and/or sun ones

  • Charge cords, extra battery for energy storage

  • Headlamp

  • Sunglasses
